The other day I saw one of the SXSW films, “A Necessary Death”. The movie was great! Its about a guy in film school who has an idea for his thesis project. In the movie he decided to do a doc about suicide following someone from first preparations to final act. One of the great things about the movie is that they don’t get preachy. They don’t pretend to know all the answers. I think it is just as much a comment on our society as it is about suicide. The Q&A afterwards just confirmed that. People were angry because they thought it was real. The entire audience seemed to have an opinion on it some loved it, some hated it, some had to make a therapy appointment afterwards. Saturday at the Alamo South Lamar is the last screening in Austin. You should check this one out. Now that the film portion is pretty much over you should have no problem getting in.
