We Love Mrs. Hunter!

Austin teacher Sally Hunter visits with students from Pease Elementary School about the new fourth grade curriculum she helped write to help Texas students gain a better understanding of the historical significance of the Governor's Mansion.  Ms. Hunter developed the "This House is Your House" curriculum after the Mansion was nearly destroyed by fire in June.  Ms. Hunter's family has lived in Austin since the mid-1800s, and she used family documents, along with other historical sources of information to create the curriculum guide.

Texas First Lady Anita Perry and officials from the Texas Education Agency joined with Ms. Hunter to unveil the Mansion curriculum guide to Pease students.  Pease is the oldest continuously operating public school in the state, and was founded in 1876 and named after Governor Elisha M. Pease.

Ms. Hunter has been an educator for 29 years, and presently teaches fourth grade at Highland Park Elementary.

Congrats!...
