He earned the B.A. and M.A. Ed. degrees at Concordia University, River Forest, and the Ph.D. in music education at the University of Michigan. He serves as a handbell and music education clinician and consultant, has published articles in various publications and published handbell works with Concordia Publishing House and Morning Star Publications.  He has been an active member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers and Society for Ethnomusicology.
