A private developer is trying to gain control of the public lands of Vancouver’s Central Waterfront. The developer is proposing the construction of a massive entertainment complex within meters of Crab Park.
If the public land is surrendered for this project Vancouverites will lose an essential part of our waterfront. The massive stadium will permanently overshadow Crab Park. This scale of construction, within meters of the park, will destroy the sensitive wetlands and essential waterfowl feeding area.
As the home to the memorial for Vancouver’s missing women Crab Park has a role in remembering, honouring, healing and inspiring change. A stadium will shadow the park and the noise will forever destroy its solitude.
Would we allow a massive stadium to be built in Stanley Park or on Kits beach?
