Venice, Italy

We arrived in Venice and disembarked the ship around 9:30 AM. We had a ship transfer with our bags to the Pizalle Roma, the car park on the edge on Venice. Then, we walked to our hotel with all of our luggage: 7 pieces (3 carry-ons with computers and my knitting, 2 suitcases, a folding suit bag with our formal clothes for the cruise, and an extra duffel bag we brought along for overflow), We were told that it was only a three minute walk to our hotel, but to actually took us about 20 minutes, walking over two bridges with all of this luggage.
Our hotel was about a block off the Grand Canal, near the railroad station, but we arrived so early that we could not get into our room until after 1 PM. So we went out and explored around our hotel, had lunch, crossed the Grand Canal near the train station, made our hotel reservation in Florence, and went back to our hotel for a nap! It was drizzly when we arrived, but the sun came out in the afternoon. Our hotel did not have Internet access, but I eventually found an Internet shop that would let me hook up my own computer.
