Our fifth day in a row of shore excursions! This day, we visited the ancient city of Ephesus, where Mary spent her final days, and where St. Paul preached and was briefly jailed for his views. This city had 250,000 population over 2,000 years ago, and was a sea port. It is now several miles from the shores of the Aegean Sea. They have uncovered and restored only a very small part of the city. Dan and I took almost 150 pictures today. We also returned to the port city of Kusadasi, and bought a small, hand-made Turkish carpet. We also wandered through the shops before returning to the ship. My feet are killing me, and my knee is really sore. So far, this has been my favorite shore excursion. Lots and lots of history here! The shopping was pretty good, too! The weather was perfect: low 70s and sunny.
