Qin Han graduated from the Masters Course in 2006. She is a Teaching Fellow on the Master of Design programme. Currently she is undertaking a PhD focusing on service design and its impacts on business operations. She also works part-time with Not Just Design, a design consultancy based in Dundee. Her experience in teaching, researching and working brings her unique views on the future of a new generation of designers and their role in the real world.
Before coming to Britain, Qin did a B.Eng in Computer Science and Technology at Tongji University, Shanghai, China. Her master project focused on the application of Information Design in Way-finding. The outcome of her research is a design system to help people find their way around with well organized supports through different media. The success of her design approach was recognised by the university and chosen for the college’s new website. She also contributed to the way-finding design for both Degree Show 2007 and Masters' Show 2007. Her work was exhibited in the Shanghai Biennial International Student Show in 2006.
Research Interests
Qin’s PhD research interests lie in an emerging design discipline -Service Design. Her research focuses on how service designers work with their clients to design a service delivery system, and the positive impact they make on business management at a strategic level. She is looking to incorporate her specialist knowledge on information design into this research as a communication tool. Qin believes that the future designer should be able to work with the higher levels of business management and contribute to business development in the new economy.
