”Established in London in 1998, our Manchester show is even bigger and bolder, once again showcasing the amazing talent and success of women in comedy”
" the absolute definition of a blinding Comedy bargain. Be there for the next one to avoid missing out and kicking yourself again."
The History
November 04 saw the spectacular opening of Manchester's first, all-woman comedy night. A once a month show; produced by Hazel O'Keefe.
The idea was borne of O'Keefe's experience running an all-woman's night in London with Karen Cockfield, a concept set up 1998 in reaction to the 'inspiring comment' made by a London promoter, who would 'never take the risk of including more than one female comedian on the bill' .
Happily, on November 28th, O'Keefe and Belinda Everett proved this theory utterly wrong. The opening night attracted over 200 people to enjoy the 'Laughing Cows Comedy show' held at the Mint lounge (Oldham Street, Manchester). In an interview for City Life Magazine held before the show, Everett was quoted saying "My ideal night would feature as many guys as women. Basically our night, whether you're straight, gay, male or female - is a night intended to have everybody laughing". By all accounts this is exactly what shone through.
The five comediennes, including Time Out 'comic of the year', Julia Morris, went down an absolute storm. This, backed up with a rave review from the Manchester comedy forum, confirms that the Manchester 'Laughing Cows' is going from strength to strength. ' Hazel has developed these nights across the UK and now the clubs run in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh with various comedy partners.
'Laughing Cows Comedy Manchester' is currently be held on the last Sunday of every month the Frog and Bucket.
Confirmed guests have included headlining T.V comic star Gina Yashere, Time Out comic of the year Julia Morris, Jo Caulfield, Angie McEvoy, Star of Pheonix nights Janice Connolly and many many more.
Though the show itself starts at 8pm, after proving such a popular night we advise getting to the venue close to the 6pm opening in order to claim your place in the action.
With the modest £7/5 entry and 12am license we guarantee a full night of entertainment and fun.
