The History

December ’07 saw the return of Laughing Cows Comedy to London with a glorious and successful night at the Bath House.  Ava Vidal, Isy Sutty, Jen Brister and Jo Enright provided an amazing night’s entertainment in the packed out venue, with regular Cows compere Janice Phayre whipping the audience into comedy frenzy.

The 7th February saw the second London Laughing Cows night, and hits 2008 on a high with an impressive bill of female stand-up talent.

Laughing Cows Comedy has been showcasing and helping to develop women in comedy for 10 years now.  Hazel O’Keefe and various comedy partners have run nights around the UK.   The idea is built on O'Keefe's original experience running an all-woman night in London where Laughing Cows ran full to capacity for two and a half years.  Following a personal move to the North West, November 2004 saw the spectacular opening of Manchester's first all-female line up of comedy. The opening night attracted over 200 people.  This popularity has continued over the years and the show is currently held in Manchester’s acclaimed Frog and Bucket comedy venue.

With trial shows at the Leicester Comedy Festival and in Birmingham, and Laughing Calves nights to encourage new talent, Laughing Cows Comedy is growing in force.  It’s not hard to understand when you see the fantastic line-ups, encompassing award winning and television comics such as Gina Yashere and Jo Caulfield, as well as many up and coming comedians.  Every show is designed to get the audience laughing from start to finish, by showcasing the best of female comedy, in a friendly and enthused atmosphere.

This London Laughing Cows night is a monthly all-female comedian event held the first Thursday of the month (put it in your diaries!) at the Bath House on Dean Street, Soho; a regular comedy venue in the heart of the city.

The second helpings of Laughing Cows brings a host of talent this February, including some Edinburgh Fringe favourites: Chortle Award winning Shappi Khorsandi headlining this great bill, along with the wildly energetic Annette Fagon, the sharp and sassy Liane Ross, and  the never understated Janice Phayre returning as our luscious compere.

The future for the show looks golden too with acts such as Josie Long, Shazia Mirza and Janice Connolly already confirmed.  And we’ll keep mining away at the vast pot of female talent out there so there’s a lot to look forward to!
