Death Valley day 2

I arrived at the Furnace Creek Ranch too late to do the first group ride so I set about putting  my bike together. It came together pretty quickly and while unpacking I discover why the box was held up. In the box is a calling card from the TSA-Transportation Safety Administration. Looks like they were after my co2 cartridges. Can’t carry anything on a plane these days. The next morning we ride out as a group at 7am after some warm ups which I miss because I’m picking up a canned double espresso at the gift shop. Today’s ride will be 84 miles, about 24 miles or so out to Stovepipe Wells and then an 18 mile climb up to Townes pass. A 4956 foot climb from below sea level.
