Autism and Complementary Medicines

Martha Herbert, a neurodevelopmental biologist at Harvard Medical School, has been a member of our Somatics Study Group for many years.  She is a rarity on many fronts, but especially in her blending sophisticated understanding of culture and history (she has her original PhD in History of Consciousness from UC Santa Cruz), mainstream science, and decades-long exploration of somatic practices, ranging from rolfing, alexander, body-mind centering, tai chi chuan, bioenergetics, etc.  This interview gives a good account of her groundbreaking work in bringing all this knowledge to bear on dealing with the increasing problem of autism.
