Noboru Yasuda is a Noh performer and a rolfer living in Tokyo. He is now performing in a contemporary Noh dramain which a classical Japanese figure is reconfigured as Einstein in his quest for the ultimate meaning of matter ending in the holocausts of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I recently saw this breathtaking play in Kyoto, and it will soon be coming to MIT in Cambridge. Noboru views Rolfing and Noh as intimately connected with their emphasis on the body situated fully in harmony with gravity, the ground for a transcendent sense of the real that does not depart from the earth.
