Adventures in Southeast Asia and other places...

One of our first family adventures was to Pike’s Peak, Colorado.  We were all looking for the yellow-bellied marmots that were supposed to cover the mountain at higher altitudes.  Eric called out “I see a saber-toothed yellow-bellied marmot.”  Each day on the trip Eric added another characteristic of the elusive creature until we were looking for a “saber-toothed, dwarf-winged, speckled-back, duck-footed, purple-capped, yellow-bellied marmot.”  The kids loved it so each trip we take now Eric spots other unique animals.  Most recently he saw a saber-toothed, giant-winged, dwarf-beaked, diurnal, purple-eared kiwi bird.”  It was truly amazing!
