Welcome to Halsey’s website. My aim this year is to maintain this website so that parents, teachers and students can feel comfortable with what is going on in my classroom on a weekly basis. Please feel free to comment by sending an email.
My philosophy of teaching revolves around the drop of water that you see on my business cards, on my web site, in my classroom. A teacher is only as good as the ripples that extend from her classroom. I can only drop curiosity into brains, hope that the ripples become questions, concerns and ideas. As the ripples move outward into the world, I hope that they will eventually have an effect on the universe, on humanity.
The other pictures are also metaphors. You see me working the grinder on the America’s Cup boat, Courageous. I work hard, but only to model what I would like to see in my students. And when lightning strikes, I want to be there!
Reading and writing are a way to communicate with other people’s stories, and stories are ultimately all we have to share our experiences. We grow together!
