Kyiv dates back to the 6th century A.D. when it officially was founded by three Scandinavian brothers and their sister. It rose in importance as the capitol of Kyivan Rus’, arguably the most powerful state in all of Europe by the 1100’s when Kyiv had a population of about 50,000. Even today, Kyiv’s famed golden domes glimmer invitingly over the broad Ukrainian steppes and the blue waters of the mighty Dnipro river.
Kyiv currently has two Evangelical Presbyterian congregations. Though we helped plant another congregation in the “Khar’kovskii” region of Kyiv, that church is not meeting anymore. Members of that church are attending one of the two other Presbyterian congregations. It was very sad to see this church close after four years of investing much in its growth, but we trust our Father’s sovereignty even when we don’t understand His purposes.... Below are some pictures showing various aspects of this church’s life, its neighborhood, and those who were a part of it.
