Had a mini reunion seeing some friends in the city. Happy Birthday Kim. Look at your blazin’ cake. Dim sum at the Koi Palace which was absolutely crazy packed with people. Did a few hours of shopping at Gilroy on the drive back. Picked up a custard(?!?!) pie from Marie Callenders.

Drove (4 hours) to San Fran for the weekend. Visited Apple for some goodies. Apple ads were all over the city. Went to Chinatown a few times. The farmers market at the ferry landing is happening. Lots of vendors. Stayed at the Holiday Inn on Van Ness. Checked out the Conservatory of Flowers and their Butterfly Zone.

Made a return visit to Bass Lake for another fun day riding a boat in the sun.

Dang hot day in the 100s. Fig Garden Village is upscale like Kahala Mall. Lots of rich folk going to expensive stores. Starbucks is here of course. Whole Foods is a new addition.
Scorching sun. The pool has been resurfaced and is filling up to beat the heat.

Sears Portrait Studios - looks the same in Hawaii. The local public library, opened in 2004. Trader Joe’s, next to Longs Drugs. Trader Giotto’s and Traderade - get the play on words?

All about the kids. Got more visitors and house guests. Playing in a deflating bouncy house is fun.

Happy Fathers Day. Lunch at Imperial Garden, one of the few Chinese dim sum places around. Then off to Target that has a Starbucks inside! Do they have these mini Sharpies and Highlighters in Hawaii? Playing with a Slip and Slide, feeding aggressive ducks, and a German Chocolate Cake.

Never heard of the Bonfante Gardens theme park, but it’s pretty good for kids. A natured-based theme park near Gilroy.
A long ride over. Thank goodness for tunes from my iPod. Very hot weather!! Tanked down some Icees to stay cool.
Their coffee must be good since it’s a “speciality,” not a specialty.

Went to Sierra Vista Mall for Bath and Body Works. Sierra Vista is kinda sad, think Windward Mall. Foot Locker had an interesting shoe. Nice detailing. R-N is one of the few Asian markets around. Caffe e Via is a drive through coffee shack.

Jo Ann is a big craft superstore which is right next to Krispy Kreme. You see the Fourth of July themed donuts? Got some ground coffee and an iced drink (not very good). Coffee drinks from Trader Joes. Sunset cruise around the neighborhood.

Went to Babies R Us and saw some neat strollers. They had Maclarens and Peg Peregos that the Hawaii Toys R Us don’t carry. Only got limited colors though.
Marshalls had some interesting kicks including vintage James Worthy retro New Balances, Bo Jackson-like cross trainers, Nike Air Max TL, and Shox TL2 in women’s black and pink colors. Costs were cheap, at least half of the normal price.

Saw the animals at the zoo, had a picnic, then later went to a farmer’s market for fruits and snacks.

Went shopping at the biggest local mall, Fashion Fair. Kinda like Pearlridge in size, maybe a little smaller than Uptown and Downtown combined. Ate a Tommie chili burger. Gottschalks is like Macys.
Monday, June 12, 2006
Got a Starbucks (way cheaper prices!), shopped at Target, had an In-N-Out Burger for lunch, and all you can eat at Sendai Sushi for dinner.
Kids had fun in a bouncy house.
