Go from clean to singing lead with one stomp on the 2 footswitches.  Or from a lovely bluesy chord sound with the comp & some amp gain, then switch to full on rock voicings by switching on the overdrive on whilst turning the compressor off! Again, just the one stomp!!! Brilliant. Based on the Tubescreamer so you can’t actually go far wrong....

SEYMOUR DUNCAN Lava Box Overdrive / Fuzz

Cleans up well when you back off guitar volume and potentially delivers a massive amount of gain/drive/wumph. Probably best to think fuzz lead rather than crunch rhythm but that does it a disservice as it’s very flexable.  Best Bit:  The 6 point Rumble dial.

Great sound.  Battery goes under name plate - it’s a Toploader!  Could call it a ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ pedal but that could imply it gets you a Scott Gorham lead (we are not worthy)sound... mind you, this would do a good impression of Philip (we are not worthy) Lynott’s classic bass riff on the Thin Lizzy song of the same name as that other lot.

CATALINBREAD Hyperpak Kickass Dirty Channel

Made in California, this is the 23rd made of the original version.  The idea is if you don’t have a pre-amp gain control this will do it for you.  I tried it with a 70s 50w head live and didn’t even have it on the floor... it sat on the top of the amp and stayed on all night because it cleans up so well when you back off your guitar volume and those funky bluesy rhythms sounded fantastic.  It’s so small there’s no room for a battery - PSU only.
