AS YOU LIKE IT is one of Shakespeare’s bawdiest comedies.  G.B. Shaw suggests that Shakespeare pokes fun at his audience’s love of romantic nonsense in the titling of the work. Some have compared it to our modern day soap operas.  Many of Will’s works have been so touted.

AS YOU LIKE IT involves two sets of brothers at odds.  Frederick has usurped his brother’s dukedom and banished the Duke to the forest of Arden.  He kept the Duke’s daughter, Rosalind, to be a companion to his daughter Celia.   Oliver de Boys has control over his father’s estate and mistreats his younger brother, Orlando, regarding him as a servant.  Love, mayhem and frivolity abound thereafter.
