A Week at Ghost Ranch

Hi, my name is Gregg Seppala and this web site describes my journey to the Week of Peace conference sponsored by the PC(USA) at the Ghost Ranch conference center in Abiquiu, New Mexico. This trip began on July 28 and ended on August 6, 2007.

The idea of going to Ghost Ranch came up during a lunchtime discussion with Ashley - the Rev. Ashley Goff, Director of Christian Education and The Pilgrimage at the Church of the Pilgrims. We were talking about pacifism and peacemaking and Ashley told me about the conference on peace, justice and environmental sustainability being held at Ghost Ranch at the end of July. She said I should consider going to the conference because of the content but also for the experience of being at Ghost Ranch. I thought about it for several weeks and, with some trepidation, concluded that I didn’t have any valid excuses for not going.

The Week of Peace conference included eight or nine simultaneous workshops, evening worship services plus a number of other related events. For a more complete view of the week’s events go to the Witherspoon Society web site.

The Week of Peace: co-sponsored by all the coolest organizations working in and around the PC(USA) for peace, justice and environmental sustainability, this will be an old-fashioned "cowboy camp meeting." There will be worship every night in the new worship space. Argentine theologian Roberto Jordan (who co-wrote the World Alliance of Reformed Churches Confession from Accra, Ghana) will preach four of the nights, noted environmentalist/theologian Larry Rasmussin will preach one evening.
