This 1965 FJ45 long-bed pickup was a rust-free Colorado truck, with the bodywork completed by a professional shop in Arizona. I purchased the truck as a painted rolling shell and installed a modern drivetrain - 1983 2F engine with excellent compression, 4 speed transmission and transfer case. It has a 1977 disk front axle, and stock 1977 rear axle. It has a factory PTO winch. I added Toyota minitruck power steering, which really updates the driving experience.

My goal was to update the driveline, but keep a 1965 interior feel. Thus, the truck retains the vacuum shifter, and all knobs and controls from 1965. It drives very smoothly and rides well on its long wheelbase. The body is very tight and solid - all new gaskets throughout, and completely rebuilt and reupholstered seats. This truck retains a true original Toyota spirit with upgrades that take away nothing from the nostalgia. The new BFG 33x9.50 tires give it a slight overdrive that allows for easy highway cruising and fill the wheelwells nicely.

I have put 2200 miles on the truck since the build-up in 2005 and it has been unfailingly reliable and fun to drive. I used many unique and hard to find parts on this truck and it shows. No expense was spared - new Toyota clutch parts, new radiator, bumper, completely new wiring, factory headache rack and tailgate, PTO winch, emblems, seals, and interior appointments are well restored and shine like new. The truck is located in Colorado. More details and photos are available upon request.
