The Extraordinary Achievements of
Gregory Clow '81
2007 Class Webmaster of the Year
The Class of 1981 graduated 26 years ago, when computer technology was barely underway as a form of communication, yet today its Web site is a model for all other classes. An attractive, well-organized, easily navigated layout highlighted with Dartmouth Green entices the user to not only browse the numerous Reunion and other Dartmouth images but to reconnect to the Class and College in many other ways. There are links to Class Newsletters in pdf form, a protected Class email directory covering 70% of the Class, with a list of classmates with unknown email addresses, the Class Secretary's columns, a Class Officers directory, an events page, College news, sports, Hanover sites, a section to which Classmates can contribute their biographies and photographs, and a Class Blog! There is even a link to the Class of 1966 Web Cam on the Hanover Inn inviting Classmates to 'look around.' It has also begun a substantial project to create group lists of Classmates' College activities and affiliations, with excellent use of photographs. All of this is maintained efficiently and very effectively by the Class Webmaster, Gregory Clow.
This should not come as a surprise to us. Greg, you received your degree in 1981 majoring in art and graduated with distinction in your major. You are now the Creative Director of your marketing and design company. You have served your Class in many ways since graduation, and have now become its President. As Webmaster you have taken your site above and beyond most others and did so independently with little need for help from the College. Your updates to the site are constant and timely. Its layout is very clean and appealing, easy to navigate, and you always have the security of the site and the privacy of your Classmates in mind, utilizing password protection wherever necessary. And you have furnished much help to your other Webmasters.
Not only do you have the technical savvy to perform the Webmaster's duties, you showed enthusiasm, dedication and creativity which put it all together and maintained it. Greg, you have an abundance of all these attributes, and your Class and Dartmouth are clearly the beneficiaries. In appreciation for all your hard work and spectacular accomplishment, it is an honor to present you with the 2007 Webmaster of the Year Award.
