The wine tasting event was spectacular. Around a hundred people showed up to Brace Commons, and it was fun, informative, and tasty! Steve Pignatiello ’81 ran it, pouring five wines from the Burgundy region that only he imports to the United States. His stories focused on the winemakers; he let the wines speak for themselves. "It was a great reunion.  Everyone has mellowed and seems comfortable

with who they are and where they are.

I felt more at ease and at home during the reunion than I ever did as a student."

Friday night was complete with a lobster bake and good times down by the Boat House. The Budweiser truck was running smoothly, and the feared thunderstorms stayed clear, leaving a warm, humid Hanover summer evening to enjoy.

Regisration was manned by Rick Silverman '81, George Alexakos '81, various members of the Reunion Committee and our undergraduate helpers, the reunion started with classmates receiving their backpacks, books, shirts, blankets, teddy bears, balls DVDs, and gifts in Brace Commons or under our tent next to Sphinx.

Toby Reiley '81 and Ken Holmes '81 took fellow classmates through an in depth look at Facilities Planning at Dartmouth. Later on in the weekend, we were treated to a day long DOC trip up Mt. Moosilauke, an admission department discussion on how today's students are selected, and a discussion with current Dartmouth students who are 1981 legacies.

There was a mixed doubles tennis tournament organized by Pam Gehret '81, a tour of the new College facilities, an open house for orchids at the Gilman Life Sciences Center and receptions for the professional schools. The release of four oral history interviews with John Kemeny was celebrated in Webster Hall, and a number of academic open houses were available for classmates to get back in touch with today's curriculum.

The first evening concluded with a casual dinner in the Class tent, followed by the DVD slideshow collected and produced by Dean Lodmell '81, and the results to the Class Survey, presented by Greg Clow '81.

On a beautiful, warm summer afternoon, our class was treated to white cloth-covered tables and literally hundreds of old friends. The kids were kept happy by a balloon-happy clown, and there was more than enough good food to go around. The perfect Occum Pond type of celebration. See pictures of the lunch here and here.

All of the reunion classes during this weekend came together with the College to sponsor the "Field of Dreams" picnic. The sky turned grey and threatening, but the weather stayed dry and the even was a big hit. Families of all ages found food, and drink and activities to keep them going all afternoon long. See more pictures of the afternoon here.

Couldn't skip the opportunity to show this video a second time! The Class Dinner was highlighted by the installation of new class officers, a short discussion of the proposed Alumni Constitution, The presentation of our class gift to the College, which was accepted by President Wright, and a keynote address by class favorite Professor John Rassias. See pictures of these portions of the evening here.

We don't have all the speeches given during the weekend, but we do have some. If any of you have transcripts, please send them in and they will be added to the list:

The reunion weekend closed with a memorial service at the Bema, officiated by Rev. Richard Bellows '81 and Rev. Nancy Mulholland '81. The keynote address was given by Hap Brakely '81, and it is reprinted here if you would like to get a feel for the event.

Our 30th Reunion is tentatively planned for June of 2010 - just four years away! Mark your calendars now. We want an even bigger turnout!
