Cup joy as Firsts win at last

Drefach Firsts recorded their first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Kidwelly 2-0 away in the first round of the Senior Cup.

A solid performance and great result left manager Darren Sedgwick pleased and looking forward to the next fixture with renewed confidence.

Seniors begin training on astro-turf

Training for the Senior squad has now changed to 8pm until 9pm at Johnstown Leisure Centre in Carmarthen, every Thursday night.

First win as Reserves hit 5

The Reserves earned their first points of the season with an encouraging 5-2 home win against Kidwelly. They next host Porth Tywyn in the league and they will be looking to pick up more points against a side who have had a very poor start to the season.

Unfortunately, the Firsts slipped to another defeat, going down 2-0 to Caerbryn. The Firsts now have a fortnight’s break from the pressure of trying to pick up league points playing Kidwelly and Ammanford in cup competitions over the next two weekends - a perfect opportunity to get the season back on track and build some confidence in the squad.

Both senior teams were defeated again on Saturday, the Firsts going down 5-2 at Llanstephan while the Seconds again went down by a single goal, 2-1 at home to Wellfield.

The Firsts have however, broken their goal scoring duck and hopefully, this will kick start their season ahead of the visit of Caerbryn next week. Read First Team report

Second narrow defeat for Reserves

The Reserves went down 2-1 away to Killay on Saturday, going down by a single goal for the second week running.

Kidwelly away in West Wales Cup

Drefach will travel to Kidwelly in the First Round of the Evening Post West Wales Intermediate Cup. The fixture will be held on Saturday 4th October.

Seconds let lead slip to lose opener

Following their mid-week washout, the Seconds finally got their season underway on Saturday with a home fixture against Felinfoel. Despite being 3-2 up mid way through the second half, a disastrous two minutes saw the visitors turn the game on its head scoring twice to put the visitors 4-3 ahead. This lead was then built upon late on and the visitors ran out 5-3 winners.

Meanwhile, the Seconds were scheduled to start their league season against Gwendraeth Valley rivals Bancffosfelen on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, the match was postponed due to the wet weather.

Spread the cost of the Tour to Gib

A bank account to accept Standing Order payments from anyone going on tour to Gib next year has been set up. Payments can be from as little as £5 a month up to as much as you wish!

Any interest received on the account will be put into the kitty to help cover the cost of the bus to and from the airport.
