Drefach Football Club would like to thank their 1st team Kit Sponsors for their kind donation this season. The Smiths Arms of Foelgastell provide a warm and friendly welcome to all for fine food and drink in a traditional pub environment.

Firsts safely into the 2nd round of Challenge Cup
Drefach beat Penyfan by 4 goals to 3 in the first round of the Challenge Cup on Saturday - despite a late scare as the visitors came back from 4-1 down.

Defeats but no disgrace against high flyers
The Firsts lost 4-1 in the first round of the West Wales Cup at home against Narberth on Saturday. The visitors are, however, currently joint top of Division 1 of the Pembrokeshire League and therefore ending the cup run before it began wasn’t a huge surprise. This was no disgrace and allows them to concentrate on the far more important matter of the league.
The Seconds also went down to a defeat, a far closer matter, going down 3-2 away at top of the table Llangennech.

Topsy turvy week sees great win followed by 2 defeats
Having hit 6 past Porth Tywyn in mid-week to record their second win of the season, the Seconds suffered a huge reversal in fortunes, going down 7-0 away at Killay on Saturday. This, coupled with a 2-1 home defeat for the Firsts against KRUF, resulted in a bleak day for both teams on Saturday.

Despite these set backs, it’s been a positive start to the season for both teams, and the whole squad will be looking forward to putting things right on Saturday. The Firsts have a rematch against KRUF in the first round of the Senior Cup, while the Seconds entertain Trostre.

Two wins, as goals start to flow
Both the Firsts and Seconds recorded narrow 1 goal wins on Saturday. The Firsts won 4-3 at home to Tafarn Utd while the Seconds came away with a 3-2 win against Wellfield.
These results made up for a disappointing mid-week which saw the Seconds go down 1-0 at Caerbryn and the Firsts have their fixture at Carway postponed.
Saturday’s win for the Firsts included a well taken hat-trick from man of the match, Johnny Lloyd, who has already found the net 5 times this season.

No win but 4 goals to lift spirits
Despite not winning, both the Firsts and Seconds found the net twice on the opening day of the season. The Firsts gained a valuable away point, drawing 2-2 at Penllergaer, while the Seconds went down 3-2 at home to Llansteffan.
Jonny Lloyd was the 2 goal hero for the Firsts, while Chris Amos hit the bar. They looked like deservedly winning the match until a cruel injury-time equaliser. Centre half Sion Raymond was judged to be Drefach’s best player on the day.
Both teams have the opportunity to build on this encouraging start with mid-week league fixtures during the week ahead. The Firsts make the short journey down the valley to Carway on Tuesday, while the Seconds travel to Caerbryn on Thursday.

New Photo Added to Gallery
Thanks to Bob for sending in this cracking photo of the Seconds who won the Reserve Division 3 back in 1991.
Plenty of dodgy hairstyles, a tie between Dai Yelland and Greg for the limpest wrist competition, Mark Jenkins a clear winner in the cheesiest grin competition and Mark Rice the tallest player in the club!
