Avenue of the Giants and Howland Hill Road were A+. Crescent City, home of the deep fried scallops, not so much. Best live attraction: the Roosevelt Elk. Best wish-was-alive attraction: a 30-foot Paul Bunyan and his blue cow. The Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka, pronounced EUREKA!, was a nice find. As was the crew at Dick’s Bar in Mendocino. I mean, ‘Who doesn’t grow weed?’
