The Advanced Topics module will be evaluated as follows:
Phidgets assigment (40%)
The presentation is based on a group project using a tangible toolkit to design and build an interactive application.
The presentation should involve: a discussion of the tangible application that was built; the design motivations and intended uses/users; a demonstration of the application; and a critical reflection of the issues experienced e.g., in trying to use the interface toolkit, coming up with ideas, etc.
The 40% is allocated as follows; 30% group work, 10% individual component (max 1000 words for individual component).
Learning diary (10%)
The learning diary is an opportunity to capture issues each week around the assigned readings and topics of discussion. There should be at least one dated entry per week. Entries should include notes about key issues raised in the readings, open questions arising out of the readings, topics for discussion based on the readings, and any other related issues e.g., relevant literature, web links, applications, etc. Marks will be allocated according to evidence of active engagement with the course materials rather than the 'correctness' or quantity of the notes per se. The diary can take any form: hand written notes, word document, blog and so on.
Seen exam (50%)
2 hour seen exam to take place early in Spring term (date, time, location TBC).
Details will be made available Week 10.
