a drinking team with a footballing problem

to the first, but not the last web-site for the YC&AC Over 35 Football Team, variously called The Oldy Coves, or The 35s. This extravagantly gifted and multi-talented team, includes players from four of the five continents, including both North and South America, but excluding Australia.  Our nationalities include Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Dutch, German, Czech, Swiss, Hungarian, French, English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Nigerian, North American, Brazilian, and Japanese. In keeping with the official name of the team, we are all considerably) Over 35, ranging from the team youngsters at 42, to the more mature players, who are somewhat in excess of 50, or even 60 in one case! Just for the record, the average age of our  squad, for the 2006/7 season, was 46 (and a bit, most which was hanging around the waistbands of the players concerned!)

Welcome Keep out Peter Yang, Julius Dias, Gary McGregor, Neil Richards and Graeme Morpeth, waiting for the ritual post match libations to arrive
The team was first formed in 1976, and has firmly established itself as The Team , at YC&AC, in which to enjoy both the beautiful game and the camaraderie of a team sport. It is unusual, insofar as there are two Captains.
We should probably be called “The Drinking Team with a Footballing Problem,” although , compared to our rugby playing colleagues, our problem is best described as benign!
