Dreams lost....and found

By the time you read this, you are already probably one of the more than 5 million who have seen the you tube video of Susan Boyle  on “Britain’s Got Talent” show at least once.  If you haven’t, here it is once again:

The video has become a phenomenon, I think, for several reasons.  First of all is the beauty of the voice coming from such an unlikely “package”.  No one expected her to do well and we and our prejudices were taken by surprise.  Second was the choice of that beautiful song from “Les Miserables” about dreams lost.  It could have been her story as well as our own as we all face an uncertain future of dreams deferred.

Yet she found the courage to stand up there and sing her heart out  despite everything that has happened to her including being currently unemployed.   In the end she may realize her dream at the unlikely age of 47 and that speaks to all of us who think life and opportunities have passed us by.
