Gordon Cheng is the CoTeSys Professor (DFG Cluster of Excellence “Cognition for Technical Systems – CoTeSys”) Technical University Munich (TUM), Munich, Germany.


He received the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in computer science from the University of Wollongong, Wollongong, N.S.W., Australia, and the Ph.D. degree in systems engineering from the Department of Systems Engineering, Australian National University, Acton, A.C.T., Australia.


He is involved in a number of on-going projects around world.


He is the co-inventor of approx. 15 patents and the author of approx. 160 technical publications, proceedings, editorials and books. His current research interests include humanoid robotics, cognitive systems, biomimetic of human vision, computational neuroscience of vision, action understanding, human–robot interaction, active vision, mobile robot navigation, and object-oriented software construction. He is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Humanoid Robotics. Dr. Cheng is a Senior Member of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society and the IEEE Computer Society.
