Patricia Fripp -- Speech Coach
In the Reagan White House, I wrote for some of the top domestic policy advisors to President Reagan, including Counsellor to the President Edwin Meese and OMB director James C. Miller. I wrote as many as four speeches a week for Dr. Miller and edited his weekly report to the President. I also scripted his weekly radio broadcast.
I was special assistant to General Colin L. Powell at America’s Promise – General Powell’s national campaign for young people. At America’s Promise, I drafted speeches, articles, op/eds, and correspondence for the General, including "Dispatches" – his regular web page on the Internet. I assisted General Powell with his public statements at the Presidents' Summit for America's Future, which was held in Philadelphia in April 1997.
In my last full-time corporate job, I wrote for Archie Dunham, chairman of ConocoPhillips, the fifth-largest company on the Fortune 500 list. I also wrote Mr. Dunham’s speeches during the year he served as chairman of the National Association of Manufacturers, one of the nation’s leading business advocacy groups. After Mr. Dunham retired at the end of 2004, I turned freelancer. My recent clients include Shell Oil, Royal Dutch Shell, CenterPoint Energy, the New York Institute of Technology, Dow Chemical and the Greater Houston Partnership.
