Hand Paper Making

Making paper from plant fibers and Lake Superior water gives me a sense of being part of Nature's primal processes. I soak the fibers, cook and beat them, encouraging the compost process; then from the vat, recreate them into a sheet of paper, a book or bowl, or a piece of sculpture.

We are all one ~
Breath from ancient Egyptians
becomes plaster on an Etruscan tomb
becomes earth beneath our feet
becomes water running down Cut Face Creek
becomes driftwood on Paradise Beach
becomes corn, beans, cedar trees, aster, wasp nest
becomes paper.
For we are all one.
