where geek meets chic, since 2000. gomercentral™

When the New York 5th Avenue Apple Store opened earlier this month, I remember being so excited for the company, that they were gaining a good enough position to know a store like this would be a huge success. So when I saw a time-lapse recording of the store’s first 24 hours from outside, I watched it, wishing I had been able to be there (especially because I might’ve won a new MacBook... grrr).

While watching the 5:00-6:00am clip, I saw something that caught my eye; a man holding some signs in front of the camera. That man turned out, on review, to be proposing to someone named “Uschi”. He held up three signs - each one for five minutes to ensure visibility - reading “Uschi Lang,”, “I love you”, and “Will you marry me?” I thought that was sooo romantic - not even knowing he actually was a huge Apple geek! I had assumed he might be an employee who knew about the time lapse camera and took advantage of it.

A story on Macworld confirmed that he indeed was simply an Apple fanboi who had been on line that day and noticed the cameras. He hatched his plan all day, and snuck out of bed the next morning to execute his proposal.

You can see the time lapse video on the Apple site, and read the lovers’ story at Macworld.

A Special Proposal... Apple Geek Love
