Somewhere over the rainbow (chard)

Ladies and gentleman, fresh from the Hillsdale farmer’s market, give it up for.....Rainbow Chard!

Ok, I was smitten. I mean, just look at those colors! How often do you see food those colors? NEVER! (Candy doesn’t count. Put your hand down.) Never having had it before, I needed to give it try.

Let me just say, I really tried to like it. I wanted to like it. I sauteed up some onions, I carmelized some pecans. Tenderly, I tossed it all together in a pan drizzled with olive oil...I mean c’mon people, Fruit Loops would taste pretty good if prepared like this! In the end, it was still pretty bitter and tasted like dirt spinach, no doubt its cousin or uncle or something. But it sure is spectacular to look at.

Gate news:  The Pennington Brewing Design Task Force (PBDTF) has decided to run with the suggestion of carving a hop-ish vine-like design for the upper panel of the gate. Even as I type, outsourced graphic designers in India are hard at work, vetting out possible candidates. It will likely be several weeks before any of these ideas reach the public eye but you can be sure, it will be reported here first. No, no, thank you!
