Urban renewal

The place is falling down. You’d think the owners would take better care...oh wait, that’s me.  Never mind.

Consider this the “before” picture. The lumber for a new gate was bought today. (The old gate is what you see lying in a heap next to the dilapidated fence. My plan is to repair the fence and to build a new gate. No doubt, property values will soar. If all goes according to plan, I’ll have an “after” picture tomorrow.

Did I mention that I really like the weekends? I do! I was up at my regular early work-week time this morning and brewing a Hefeweizen (a German wheat beer) by 6:00am. I was done and cleaned up by 8:30am. This was followed by some yard work, proceeded by (finally) puttiing back all the molding I had previously removed before the new floor was installed in the kitchen. We’re back to “normal”. I finished my to-do list by getting to Home Depot to pick up the necessary lumber for tomorrow’s gate/fence project.

The three hop vines continue to reach for the sky, as they work their way up their strings. They’ve all made it to the four-foot mark, and one has hit the Big Five. They pretty much look like weeds (i.e. nothing real special about them) so it will be fun to see if they eventually produce something. Plenty of time to go. I mean, summer only officially arrived yesterday!.
