Brian is being dumped by Julie, Jason is in jail, Trent and Will have a hot new girl roommate… but she has a lesbian lover, and Chad’s weed pursuit is ending in all dead ends. Their band plays tonight in their biggest and most important gig to date, but the drug busts, lesbians, gay mafia bosses, lost band members, and love gone horribly wrong is threatening to keep the band from making it to the show. What can these incompetent fools hope to accomplish when they can’t even make it through the day? The only thing keeping the dream alive is their faith in each other, and the hope of finding that elusive bag of pot.

Just Left displays a day in the life of a college band and their friends.  However, this is not just any day for the band.  It is the day that leads into the biggest and most anticipated night of their lives.  Brian, Trenton, Jason, and Will, against a backdrop of music, girlfriends, new roommates, drugs, drug busts, overzealous cops, and lesbians find that this is turning out to be one of the toughest and strangest days as well.  Each character is presented with what seems to be a very difficult day ahead.

Brian, for instance, takes his music and writing very seriously.  He is in the band for the sake of creating music.  His story focuses on his relationship with his girlfriend Julie.  She wants to get away from Brian because she feels that he is holding her back.  She believes that he is stuck in this college town band with no future when he should be concentrating on his education.  Brian finds her lack of faith disturbing, and although completely confused, he is determined to move on to make his dream come true.

Jason is the band’s drummer.  He is a lost soul looking for a direction in life.  He has a way of disappearing before a gig, sometimes days before, but somehow he always seems to show up in time for the show.  Of course today his actions are anything but typical, and a hitch-hiking quest turns from bad to bizarre. Jason however is triumphant in all his endeavors, even though most are quite simple and brainless.

Most of the humor from the screenplay comes from the duo of Trenton and Will.  They are in the band for the girls.  During the course of their day, they meet their new roommate, Melanie.  Because of her fantastic appearance, they begin bickering over who will be the one to date her.  But because she is a lesbian with eyes only for her girlfriend… well, not even that changes their plan of attack.

Chad is not in the band, however his existence is paramount to the band’s sanity.  Throughout the day we follow Chad in his relentless pursuit for weed. Chad’s quest rivals Jason’s in terms of its unexpected twists and turns. However, Chad is a resourceful guy, and he turns one bad circumstance after another into a heroic turn of events.

After the show, everybody meets at a party where the day’s events turn to resolutions. After hook-ups, drug busts, arguments, and cop chases, the day ends and leads into the next day. A happy ending for all is foreseen, and Jeff flies off into the distance with his huge turkey wings.
