I see the city from street level, and it looks like mainly streets, roads, freeways, bridges, footpaths and cars and buses and trucks to me.

And trees, which I love.

And walls.

And the walls are all mainly pristine, clean, unsullied, blank, and boring.

There are advertisements galore, of course, and I course I see them too and I buy stuff too.

But the heart of me is an anarchist. So walls are an abhorrence. And advertisements are just the hubbub upon which commerce depends.

But my heart is cheered when I see what is not allowed on walls.

So, I have a new hobby. While I drive my cab around the streets of Sydney, I take photographs of graffiti, stencils, stick ups, and all manner of other street art.

I was inspired by a short trip to Melbourne last September, where the street art hit me for six. I had not expected it. It amazed me. I wrote about that in this blog, here.

If you visit this gallery, and you have any suggestions as to how to better organise it, or tip offs for more that I should include, or anything else to say, please post a comment using the link below, or send me an email

I’ve been looking about on line a little, and most other galleries of Sydney street art I can find are either a bit outdated, or they are more about throw up tagging.

No-one else is showing quite what I am here.

If I am wrong, let me know.

Here are a few links I have found anyway -

Art Crimes, scroll down to find Sydney.

Nemzone, with recent updates, but mainly tagging.

Great Darlo street artist, with some input onto Darlo Car Wash wall.

The famous Banksy, about whom everybody speaks, because he is such fun.

If you find any more, better, or worse links, please send them to me.
