Fish Creek and nearby Marx Creeks are among the few places that you can see both black and grizzly/brown bears -- at least on a lucky day.  The boardwalks are very crowded during mid-day.  So you won’t have much peace and quiet or space to yourself except in the early morning evening.  Unfortunately, there isn’t much light in these narrow valleys except at mid-day.  So it’s a tradeoff.  There is snow a small fee for use of the boardwalks -- which is about the only place you can see bears, unless you get lucky at the mouth of the Salmon River tidal flat near Hyder.
