ON THE CALENDAR

This Week we are celebrating the Day of Pentecost. The readings for this week may be found here.

We have a baptism at the 8 am service and will renew our Baptismal Covenant at the 10:30 service. You are invited to wear red as we celebrate this special day in the life of the Church.

Standing with Sylvester -- Donations Requested. This Sunday we will be taking up a special collection to help our friend Sylvester Simpson who recently lost his family home. As Sylvester rebuilds his life, he welcomes your assistance. We’ll have a special blue box in the back for donations. Checks should be written to “Matthew 25:40” and include “Sylvester” in the memo line.

Life Line Screening: Saint Mary’s has been asked to host Life Line Screening, which will be available to the larger community on Thursday, July 5. Life Line says that people may find out their risk of having a stroke by participating in this ultrasound screening. They will evaluate the carotid arteries for the buildup of fatty plaque, which is the leading cause of stroke. If you are interested, you may register today for the Stroke, Vascular & Heart Rhythm package by adding your name to the sign-up sheet in the office. Church members who sign up will receive $10 off any package of $139 or more, and Saint Mary's Episcopal Church will also receive a $10 donation for every member who signs up and attends this Life Line Screening event. The Stroke, Vascular & Heart Rhythm Package includes four screenings: carotid artery, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and atrial fibrillation. To schedule your appointment and to receive this special offer, please sign up on the sheet provided in the church office.

ON-GOING EVENTS

Our Tuesday Bible Study includes a lecture from an old friend, Dr. Amy-Jill Levine of Vanderbilt University, on “Great Figures of the New Testament” followed by a discussion of the persons and issues she has raised. We meet most Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

Sunday Morning Bible Study meets each week at 9:30 for prayer and an in-depth discussion and analysis of the Gospel According to Mark. All are welcome!

Book Club meets Wednesdays at 5:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Dinner is served, and all are welcome. For more information, please contact Lynda Thurman.

The Children and Youth ministries are now on Summer Break. We will return in the fall with the Atrium for children through 5th grade and Youth Group for older students.
