Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

The Collect for Thanksgiving Day: Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

This Sunday we celebrate the The First Sunday of Advent. The appointed readings may be found here. The season of Advent marks the beginning of the Church year. That means that we move to Year C on the Eucharistic Lectionary (used for Sunday and special services) and Year 2 on the Office Lectionary (used for Daily Prayer).

2010 Church Calendars are now available in the Wheeler Room and church office for a suggested donation of $2. Hang one in your home or office to track major church dates.

A Thanksgiving Day service will be celebrated at Saint Mary’s on Thursday, November 26 at 10:00 am. Come share in a simple service in which we will gather to offer our thanks for all the blessings of our life and country.

Make Your Own Advent Wreath! Sunday, November 29 is the First Sunday of Advent. To mark the day, and to help us prepare for the Christmas season, please come to an Advent Wreath-making event in the Parish House following the 10:30 am service. We’ll provide all the supplies, including candles, though we will need a few people to gather and bring a selection of greens.

Poinsettia Orders: If you would like to order a poinsettia this Christmas season in honor or in memory of a loved one, please pick up one of the special envelopes located at the back of the church and complete the information on the front of the envelope and enclose your check or cash for $12.50 for each poinsettia. Place the envelope in the offering plate or turn in at the office.

Advent Devotionals Available: Copies of Preparing for Christmas with Richard Rohr: Daily Meditations for Advent are now available in the Wheeler Room. Fr. Rohr is a Franciscan priest who founded the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This booklet includes suggested readings as well as his own meditations for each of the days of Advent. A donation of $2 for each booklet is suggested.

Is There a Calendar of Events? Yes -- the online calendar for Saint Mary's is available here.
