We spent much of the day exploring our neighborhood and recovering from jet-lag. In Nakai, we are about the only Americans and not many people speak English. Great bakeries and coffee shops nearby and the boys made breakfast of that. Later we discovered how to get cash from the post office and ducked in for lunch at a little cafe for a curry lunch- very cheap- ¥1800 for all of us-about $17.
Some things can be expensive, but like anywhere, there is a variety to chose from.
In the late afternoon, we took a train to Roppongi and went to Mori Tower. The 52nd floor has a great view (photo above) of the city as well as an art museum-showing two shows-one on the Da Vinci Code and the other on contemporary African artists.
Many foreigners in Roppongi. I’m not quite sure why since it’s filled with American/International shopping and VERY expensive.
We had dinner on the 5th floor of the Mori Tower at the Bamboo Bar where one of our housemates, Chi, works. She introduced the boys to Yutaro who will take the boys around sometime next week to practice their Japanese & English together and meet some other Japanese kids.
Here’s Tris- it only took him one day to refine the japanese art of riding the trains. Sleeping standing up with ipod headphones on. So many people engrossed with their cellphones-keitai- on the trains. Seems like they do everything with them and you NEVER hear them ring! So japanese!
