Paolo Lugari: A Renaissance Man.” features the origins, present, and future of Gaviotas; a sustainable village founded by Lugari in 1967 in Colombia. In addition, it explores Lugari’s ideas on biological capitalism and endogenous development. The 25 minutes documentary was made during Lugari’s visit to the city of Pittsburgh in May 2007 to receive an honorary PhD., in Science and Technology by Carnegie Mellon University. This is a low budget experimental film.

We hope you can promote Gaviotas’ story among your community. This is a humble contribution to rescue Lugari’s 40 years working on sustainable development.

As Colombians, environmentalist, and members of the Pittsburgh community we are grateful for the opportunity of sharing this amazing story of peace and hope in the midst of the challenges of contemporary society.

If you know more individuals and institutions that would be interested in showing and/or acquiring this film please do not hesitate to contact us.

Against all odds, Gaviotas thrives

In conditions of scarcity and violence.

It is a remarkable story.
