FENDER DIAMOND CUSTOM 60TH ANNIVERSARY
REFINISH
The guitar in question is a Fender Diamond Custom 60th Anniversary Precision Bass, in Sunburst.
The goal? Refinish the guitar to a Vintage White, and affix a black scratch plate. This record will focus on the former as the point of interest, and shall serve to document the progress of this gradual transformation.
I am by no means experienced at this type of work. I have performed only one other refinish - a ‘Tom Delonge’ Signature Fender Stratocaster from Surf Green, to white. It was a valuable learning experience, and though the results it yielded were acceptable, they were not first rate.
I hope that this experience will stand me in good stead, specifically with what to expect regarding some of the potential pitfalls lying ahead.
