On the Mac there seems to be an explosion of apps regarding getting organized. These fall into two categories namely getting paperless and todos. Lets see if I can get my head around what is the best way to work with all of these apps/web sites.

<a href="http://www.jchryss.com/The_Unofficial_Paperless_GTD_Blog/Blog/Entries/2007/12/20_Things_files/screencast.jpg"><img src="http://www.jchryss.com/The_Unofficial_Paperless_GTD_Blog/Blog/Media/screencast_1.jpg" style="float:left; padding-right:10px; padding-bottom:10px; width:144px; height:124px;"/></a>Things is alpha software but it is very very good. I love this program. I haven’t tried Omnifocus but I dont see how it can be better. I didn’t get Things after watching the screencast at first but now that I have the program I understand it perfectly. The question is how does it relate with iCal. Looks like this is a forthcoming feature. Merlin Mann says that ical is the lingua franca of gtd. Omnifocus not only does ical integration but evidently you can grab wep pages and send tasks via email to it. You cant do this yet.

It is my favorite app for this function despite being a newcomer and being incomplete and competing with a very popular program, Yojimbo, from a famous company. This program allows you to organize and tag all the files on your computer. You can set it up with your scanner to receive new scans. It has this cool shelf on the side of the mac that you can drag things to (with subfolders). It is working very well for me so far. From the website it is described as follows: “Together lets you keep everything in one place. Text, documents, images, movies, sounds, web pages and bookmarks can all be dragged to Together for safe keeping, tagged, previewed, collected together in different ways and found again instantly.” You can make notes in any app and you can create web archives as well.
