I will use photography -- and documentary photography in particular -- to guide my Olympic investigation. Photography is a medium that can be used to reflect the community back upon itself, and to reveal the everyday social and political realities that influence people's lives. By presenting my work in galleries located in the communities affected by Olympic development, I will be able to weave together these stories of personal memories and transformations into my ongoing commentary on “Olympism.”
As I progress through my year and move from Olympic site to Olympic site, my exhibit will evolve as I add the experiences of all prior host-cities. I will take each community’s stories and struggles with me across the globe. Thus, the people of Sydney will be able to engage and participate in the experiences of Mexico City and so on.
