Hello to any of those faithful who may still be hoping against hope that I’ll put something new here! Well, your wish has just come true. I wanted to tell you of the launch of our new blog from our www.getzcreative.com website. Now you can see daily updates of what is going on in getzcreativeville and even leave comments if you wish!. Thanks all for supporting this blog over the years, but due to our company success and the fact that .mac is too slow for my liking, we’ve creating a more streamlined blog that we feel allows us the opportunity to post more often with faster uploads for both you and us! The “Creativity Code”

We only get once chance in life; one go around. Sometimes I think it’d be neat to either have 1000 years to get it right, where I’d look 20 years old for about 800 of those years with all the vigor, idealism, love and passion that comes with it, or at around 60 years, our bodies would kinda do a “life warp” where we’d get to keep all the experience of the first go around but our bodies return to that of a 19 year old again, and we get a second chance to make different choices and live life in a totally different way if we wished. Nevertheless, for all the pros and cons of something like that actually happening, there have been some phrases that have stood out to me, being the creative that I am (and yes, I’m using “creative” as a noun here) and so I thought I’d share these in hopes they might inspire you to live for today. Remember, you only get one chance. Make it good. Live with intention. I’m saying enjoy life; don’t wait for great moments, create good moments, and fight the momentum of getting into a rut and just “being there” and living a mediocre life. So with that said, take a look at his list by Mary Anne Radmacher. I hope you find it inspiring.

Ables Remix: Matt & Beth

We were able to photograph Matt & Beth in the beautiful mountain area known as Pretty Place. The open air chapel overlooked a beautiful vista of trees and sky that made the setting of a marriage even more magical than is usually present. A few months before, we were able to shoot Matt’s brother’s wedding, so this is “Ables wedding number 2” for us and was just as wonderful as the first. Thanks for using us, we sure appreciate it!

River Reserve On Lake Keowee

When we shot this wedding, you could almost here them singing “the hills are alive” or yodeling in the background. Golf Courses, clear skies, hill top vistas and a beautiful lake surrounded us as we spent the day shooting. I’m thrilled at the team we have. I couldn’t do it without them; And with that said I want to salute and commend my excellent team members and friends, Michelle, Ashley & Tom. You guys really are spectacular. THANK YOU!

Recently I was able to do a campaign style shoot for Victoria Salon in Greer. This first of several photoshoots was intended to communicate the feeling of bliss when at the salon, and to sell gift cards to men for their significant other. We Hit 20!

Wow, it’s hard to believe 2007 is wrapping up and 2008 is right around the corner ready to fill our days with new adventures and opportunities! What a great year this has been and we’re excited as we watch 2008 already filling up and taking shape. By the time December ends we will have completed 20 weddings for 2007 along with a myriad of other jobs that include senior, family and commercial experiences! We’ve taken a giant leap forward and this telltales of just some of the success we’ve enjoyed throughout the year.

In order to enjoy maximum creative freedom and versatility, we have decided to take a limited number of weddings per year in order to carve out time for other photographic venues. We love weddings and every bride that uses our services; we couldn’t be more thankful for each and every one of them. We also love those who have come to us for a different experience away from traditional photography and into the realm of photographic art. We’re excited to see new areas evolve and also excited to bring new ideas and offerings to our clients in 2008. As we roll out these new offerings, I’ll post them here and give you some added insight into what we’re thinking.

Recent Work: OOBE

One of our many projects have been for a local clothing company OOBE. We shot both for their corporate and retail lines, which allowed us the opportunity of giving a “look” for each side that fit their individual customer base. We were very pleased when they announced the launch of their new site and were able to see their vision for our images. We feel they did a great job and made the images look wonderful; dovetailing it nicely with a sharp, clean design that really shows they know what their doing, AND they were great to work with to boot! GetzCreative Update

Hello All! I apologize for not updating this blog sooner. I had intended to have a new blog by this time (and a new site) up and running but things have been delayed yet again. I recently bought ilife ’08 and have been extremely disappointed in it’s color profiling; images are darker and more muddy than my images really are and so I don’t like to post image galleries using ilife ’08 and have moved to another format using Adobe Bridge. However, until I get things up and running I do plan on starting these blog posts again. We have had a super fun and very good year and things only look brighter for the future. We are learning much and will be bringing new things (can’t tell you what yet! :))) and will be adjusting some of the way we work to create a better experience for our clients.

I’ll post more later this week and add some details of what’s been going on!

We’re finishing up a wonderful shoot for Brad & Kathi, a couple very much in love and loving life. Brad tried to surprise her with a fun day of shooting with us, but all you girls are very cunning and she found out a bit early. However, it was still a wonderful shoot and they were great to work with. This is only part of what we took... I’ll have to show you all the rest when we finish.

Personal Project No1: Anthropology/AE

As you may remember we are hoping to put up a new site later this fall. We hope to begin work on it starting the beginning of August. Well, what you may not know, is we hope to also put up a separate site for our commercial/editorial clients. We’re finding that clients don’t readily know we have an adverstising/Graphic Design background and hence some of them only think of us as “wedding photographers”. Fortunately, once they see our stuff many are persuaded to use us because they see our creative style. However, we still feel it would be better to clearly separate our marketing between our different types of clients. We don’t want to muddy the waters and lose a project due to wrong perception and as always, first perception is key in this business. You’re constantly selling yourself in everything you do.

All that to say, I am planning several photo shoots over the next several weeks to show off our creative style in a more “commercial setting”. We don’t just want any jobs however, but only those that would best reflect the creativity we could provide a client. For this, we are targeting looks such as GAP, Anthropology, freepeople.com, A/C, AE/ Hollister and so on. We’ll start here and move forward, but we feel these brands already embody parts of what we already love to do for our “non-commercial” clients. I am also using this time to teach my intern and assistant more about lighting and creative concepting. It’s a good opportunity for me to be more hands off and allow them to stretch and grow.

This first set is using models and clothing from a downtown women’s boutique called Campaigns. These are the “rough photos” and we plan to “finish these” as mock ads and such, but I thought I’d post what we had so far. Click Here to see more images

It always cool when you see something you did in some publication, book or billboard, and one recent version of this was in May/June 2007 Issue of OUTREACH Magazine. A while back we had photographed John Mashie, a person who has the unique ministry of combining hip-hop rhythms to sermons. Well, May flew by and by that I mean, it literally became one of our busiest months ever! We traveled to Wisconsin to shoot at a water park, shot for New York Life on top their roof while a baseball game played in the background, all the while shooting several weddings, creative sessions and the like just to keep the rest of our fans happy. (not to mention they paid us to be there) Well, it’s time to recharge the creative juices and head to the beach. Yes, the BEACH!. What fun. I’m definitely taking one light with a softbox and some portable power to get some epic beach shots. I can’t wait to show you what we come with.

I know, it’s so overused, someone needs to bury it and throw away the key, but it did get your attention didn’t it? That’s right don’t lie, you know it did. This here is part of my little brother’s photo shoot with his sweetheart that we had the honor of shooting. She has a job that takes her out of state often while he’s back home stuck with his ‘ol bro in SC. So we thought we’d show them in two places to signify the distance that sometimes separates them from each other. (below is a more “normal” image, but I liked the creativity of the one above!

OOBE Update

One down, two to go. The first of three photo shoots scheduled with the company OOBE went very well. It was not only fun, but Chris and Bryan were both great to work with—Thanks for the great time guys! On a side note, if you’re looking for a set of lights that are both affordable with options that help give you light control, check out the mono-lights by alien bees. They did the trick for me! This shot was actually shot using only available light, which is one of my favorite ways of shooting. We have a shoot this Sunday at a Chik-Fil-A and then head on a three day trek to Wisconsin for the Final shoot next wed. Please pray that all goes well.

He’s Not So Shy

Today was Mother’s day, that time of year where everyone takes their mother out, so instead of her getting to eat in 30 minutes, she gets to wait for 2.5 hours—And we think we’re so smart. I bet she just feels REAL special!!! The world is a messed up place, with even our best of intentions (such as mother’s day) turning into nothing more than an over-clogged commercialized holiday where she is actually MORE inconvenienced that she would have, had we the brains to take her out the day before or the day after the national “day of”. However, a bright glimpse in the day came when we took Asher to the park. Unaware of the racial and religious conflict wreaking havoc in our world, or of the dangers facing us on many different levels, children unashamedly act so transparent and honest, it’s quite refreshing. I got my giggles today watching as he walked right up to this wonderful old man and started talking his ear off, trying to take his cain and overall just making the guy’s day shine a little brighter.

GAP-Style Shoot

I plan on taking Tom our newest intern on a practice shoot “gap-style” this Friday. It will be in studio and meant for black and white. Hopefully we’ll both learn a lot and come back with some cool picts! I’ll try and post some from the shoot next week.

It looks like we may have a chance to shoot some shots for OOBE the outerwear outdoor clothing company. We will be traveling towards wisconsin for a three days shoot later this summer, and if all goes well, we may be invited back for a fall photo shoot as well.
