Out for a Walk in the Woods

Today G met Christine and Cedro for a lunchtime hike across Heavenly. Great trail, with some spectacular views, and a nice mix of terrain and elevations, without being too challenging. It’s not mapped, or maintained, but a great hiking trail nonetheless. There’s a lot of sand, so I’m not sure I’d recommend it for bikes, but there were some tire marks on other trails in the vicinity, so someone’s tried it. We ended up somewhere in Stateline - most likely a private driveway - but I’d like to figure out how to access the trail from our place (instead of driving down to the Lake and across town...)
We got to talking about local restaurants, and where the affordable, tasty meals can be found. Turns out, most of the “known” places are on the pricey side. Which we already knew, but it’s also good to know there’s some more reasonably-priced options. Although, even at the pricey places, a nice time can be had for not *too* much money. The other night, we met out for drinks and appetizers at the Blue Water Bistro, and while the dinner menu prices were high, we each had a beer and split a bowl of their clam chowder. The soup was awesome, and you really can’t beat the views - we were seated at a picnic table, on a dock out into the Lake. How cool is that?
