In 1950, Lancia introduced the Aurelia, a pivotal car in automotive history. Made until 1958, the Aurelia was a trendsetting car offering comfort for the modern family and capabilities as a gentleman’s racer. It was an ideal mix - a competitive, comfortable, modern car.

Aurelias were complex cars - both innovative and  conservative. Its radical engineering was one more iteration of the complex and long-held beliefs of the company - where innovation was promoted alongside of careful and thorough development.

Tradition at Lancia was a complex mix - comfort, ease of use and durability were coupled with radical engineering, light weight and constant development. This frothy mix made for interesting and constantly evolving cars, as the company continued to build off its rich engineering culture.

These strands can be seen in the Aurelia. They are explored here - with practical information and other  interpretations. Thanks to those who have generously contributed.
