TIME WARP!

OK, I know excuses are like opinions, everyone is full of them. With that said I won’t list the 5,895 reasons I haven’t blogged in FOREVER. Luckily, none of them are bad reasons! Life just gets hectic and priorities shift. Rather than attempt to get caught up, and therefore fall further behind, I will start from this week and try to fill in with what we missed along the way.

SUMMER is HERE and rainy season is making its last few attempts to soak us. Our days are filled with carefree play (by “our” I mean Gavin and Taylor) mingled with responsibility. Taylor’s hair continues to lighten and curl while Gavin’s gets LONGER & LONGER! (We are making some progress in our barber talks. The good news is long hair is in and he pulls it off well. Lately the comments are “what great hair”, “how stylish” rather than the previous....”what is the deal with your kids hair”, “just hold him down and buzz it”.)

The boys are loving our daily bike rides around town and base. A big adjustment for our family the past 2 months has been our transportation. We got rid of one of ours cars in an attempt to be more environmentally friendly, enjoy the outdoors, and exercise more. It has been a great change for our family. The boys love biking and I am diggin’ my new “movin’ mamma machine”.

We have been on all types of adventures ranging from daily grocery runs, lunch picnics, swim lesson shuttles, park progressives, computer shopping sprees, etc. Geoff has been biking a lot as well. Our car seems lonely but is always there when we NEED it.  We are finally putting our Xtracycle SUB (sport utility bike) to work lugging our “stuff.

I love the theory about it taking a village to raise a child. Although, my understanding of it is changing. I am starting to realize the village is needed mostly to schlep all the “stuff” you need to have when going on adventures with kids! With that said, we are grateful for our village!

Getting out!
Tuesday, July 8, 2008
Taylor really liked hiking in the backpack this past spring. As  you can see, my mom was right, kids really do nap better after a large dose of fresh air!
One of about 20 trips to the beach at Nanny & Poppy’s house. The boys love the water - oceans, lakes, rivers, dog bowls, hose....all things that supply water are good in their book! (unfortunately, that includes the toilet for taylor...... that boy keeps me on my toes!)
Yet again the fresh air has put Taylor to sleep! He is pretty funny passed out in the seat while we ride away.

We bought him a  cute little pillow so he can rest his head safely. I have to take more pics. Will post them later.
