The Hanover High School Cross Country team is a perennial powerhouse in New Hampshire. Coached by Jim Eakin, Stan Crane, and Eric Picconi, over 60 runners comprise the girls and boys team. Although the team is large, it is one of the most close knit group of athletes in the school. The team trains together, races together, cheers together and shares pre-race meals together.
The 2009 team is hoping to continue the momentum from last season, where both the boys and girls won the State titles in Class I, and Aaron Watanabe and Heidi Caldwell each took home the top individual honors as well. At the 2008 New England Championships both teams stood on the podium, with the girls coming in 2nd and the boys finishing 3rd. Both teams return a strong cohort of their varsity runners for the 2009 season, and with a solid base of summer training, should again be one of the top teams among both boys and girls in New England.
