Minnesota Zoo Trip
We had a blast at the Minnesota Zoo.  We loved seeing the animals and the Dolphin Show. We had fun on the monorail.  One of our favorite things to do was to eat our lunches.  We learned a lot about the animals for our reports that we are going to write on Monday. Click here to see the photos from our trip.

Literature Circles
We love Literature Circles.  We had five different groups working on their books.  Each group read their story, talked about their book and then created a project to share their book with the class. One group made a new version of Anansi does the Impossible.  Another group drew pictures for the Bunny Hop and added a new twist to their bunny hop dance. The Leo the Late Bloomer group made a house and characters to retell their story. Using GarageBand a group created music to go along with the

Super Egg!
We predicted that an egg would crack if we squeezed it as hard as we could with one hand.  We squeezed really hard, but no one could break the egg.  Not even Mrs. Berthiaume and Miss Kustermann!  We learned that if you put equal pressure on all sides - and don’t have on rings or use your fingernails - the egg doesn’t break!

Floor Hockey
The teachers played against the students all day long.  It was fun watching the other classes play.  But it was even more fun playing.  We played hard.  At the end of the day, the teachers won!

The Hat Parade
We made hats at home.  We led the whole first grade in a hat parade through all of the halls in the Primary School.  Then we walked to the Intermediate School and continued our parade through their halls.  It was fun!

Share Day
We have been learning about plants.  We learned a poem called “From Seeds to Plants”. We selected our parts and made our props for the poem.  We practiced and practiced our poem.  The today for Sharing Day we shared our poem with the rest of the students in the school.

German Fest
We went to the Middle School for German Fest.  Mrs. Fox’s eighth grade World Cultures class had many stations for us to learn about Germany.  We tasted some food - even sauerkraut! We learned some games and dances.  We learned about the country and it’s language.  We had fun!  Thanks Mrs. Fox’s class!

Concert Day
We were very excited for our concert day.  We practiced in the morning.  We were nervous.  But we knew our songs. In the afternoon our family and friends came to see our performance.  We ROCKED!  Our favorite song was We Are the Weeds!  It was a rap song.

Plurals
Sierra’s mom helped us today.  We learned about air pressure and how a drinking fountain can work. We got new books for guided reading.  We recorded our podcast for our Speak Up! book. We learned to use a math grid to add and subtract.  We learned about adding -es to words to make them plural. If you want to make box plural, add -es so it is boxes.

Magician
We saw a magician today!  He was AWESOME!  He made a large bottle of coke turn into a can of coke.  He made a bird appear.
We did math games and reading centers.  We practiced for our choir concert next Thursday.  We need to remember to bring sunglasses for our concert.
