First Group to Rio III

We recently took our first group to serve in an outreach at the area we call Rio III. You can review my blog from Feb 22 to know more of this ministry area.
With this adult group, we shared testimonies of God’s faithfulness in our lives and served approximately 300 sandwiches to women and children. We also were able to bring 9 cases of pampers to distribute to young mothers in need. We also had a chance to meet the pastor of the church we are working with there. He is a good friend of one of Betty’s favorite pastors from the past. He has an aggressive mission plan for the church there. It is in the center of a large community of people on the edge of Monterrey and it is an area that is growing. The challenge is that it is a very poor area and people don’t usually want to build churches in poor areas because the people don’t have any money.(sad commentary for Christians...but true)
A few days after our visit, we received a call from the church. Someone had broken in during the night and stolen alot of their electrical wiring. They were holding a revival that week with hundreds of new people attending and needed to have lights. They told us what they needed and we were able to have 2 rolls donated and we found the resources to purchase the rest. We were able to get their lights up and working again and they called us back at the end of the week to tell us how thankful they were. Many people accepted Christ and became believers. It is a very difficult area in the heart of crime and poverty but we are humbled and grateful to be serving alongside these people. We believe we are making a difference that will last for eternity.
