Kay’s parents had been married 20 years before she was born. She was an only child, born in 1943 or 1944, about the time Herbert went to war. Herbert was almost too old to go, but they made him. He was overweight and had a hard time. After the war he went to a meeting about the heart, after which he got into his car and had a heart attack and died. He worshipped Kay.
